Animals

A-117  Musk Ox.  He was very mean, and I was very grateful for the fence separating him and me

A-118  This series is a female moose (no antlers) taken near Fairbanks, Alaska

A-123  This 3-year old grizzly was not adept at fishing, so he would show up nightly and hassle the fishermen near Haines, Alaska.

A-124  The ranger would make the fishermen get out of the river when he'd show up, and he was hoping they'd leave behind their catches!

A-125  He was in no hurry to leave, as fishermen frequently gut their fish along the banks, so there was plenty to eat.

A-126  Uh-oh!  He's starting to come toward the riverbank.  I'm thinking I'd better find my truck.

A-127  A lady in a van shouted, "In here!"  So about 10 of us jumped inside her vehicle.

A-128  From a safer distance!

A-129  The Alaskan Wildlife Refuge south of Anchorage on the Seward Highway.

A-130  They take in orphaned animals, and when they're ready, they are given plenty of room to roam free.

A-131  This looks like a statue, but he was real!  This was near Radium Hot Springs, B.C.

A-132  A bobcat taking a stroll through the campground at Big Bend National Park, TX.

A-133  Just getting some sun!

A-134  Buffalo roam free throughout Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

A-135  Elk along the Alaska Highway.

A-136  I love dogs, and this guy was having a ball romping through the rapids of a creek in Golden, Colorado.

A-137  Elk at the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge.

A-138  Smile for the camera!

A-139  This dog has a beard!  I thought he was cool.

A-140  In Hyder, Alaska, there are so many bears that they've built a boardwalk where you can photograph them safely.

A-141  A bear in Hyder, Alaska.

A-142  When they rear up like this, they are checking out the threat factor in their immediate area.

A-143  If you look closely, you'll see this bear's lunch of a gutted salmon.  They'll only eat the females, as they love the eggs.  Males, they spit out.

A-144  This is a grizzly bear meandering along the main road in Hyder, AK.  There's no boardwalk I can hide behind here!  I gave him a wide berth.

A-145  The poor salmon go through hell to get here and still have to watch out for the bears!

A-146  I call this picture "Driving Miss Daisy", as that was her name.

A-147  A man and his dog.  Pure, unconditional love!

A-148  Daisy and her pals, taking a ride in Hyder, Alaska.

A-149  Can't you just hear this guy saying, "Wilbur!"

A-150  The Kentucky Horse Farm in Lexington is a fantastic State Park, and this horse show was such a treat.

A-151  I felt very lucky being allowed to be on the grounds for these close-up shots.  The riders are constantly encouraging their mounts.

A-152  I have a whole new respect for horses, as they're asked to do a lot in these competitions!

A-153  At the gallery in Port Townsend, WA where my photos are on display, Lucky and Gracie stand guard.  Don't they look fierce?

A-154  There are two little cubs with this mother bear, taking a swim in Hyder, Alaska

A-155  An elk at the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge

A-156  Everyone says this is a "zoo shot", but it's not.  I came upon this pregnant cat near Carlsbad, New Mexico.  I dropped behind a rock so she wouldn't see me,
